Org Cap ship... A need? My Idris-P

Postby Captain Glume » Fri Dec 05, 2014 9:18 pm

Hey all,

I've been thinking about this for some time. Ever since CIG upped the Idris from a Corvette to a Frigate. With the mention this week that the as unannounced Corvette is nearing Concept complete stage (and thus ready for a possible sale) I feel I can't put this off any longer...

So here it is. The Idris is now too big for what I had in mind for it. With the Dr. having the Idris-M version of the ship this gives me the possibility of trading the Idris-P in for a Corvette... With the recent Javelin reveal/sale and its very limited hangar space this got me thinking that the best cap ship as an org HQ ship might just be an Idris since it is looking to be holding 4 or 5 small ships and can easily hold 40+ people. The only other ship I think would fit our needs would be an escort carrier.

So... *IF* I decide I'd rather have the unnamed corvette are The Enablers interested in my Idris-P?

At $1250 USD it would use ALL of our available funds (and still be short ~$250) and I'd recommend we do a donation drive (say to raise ~$500) to make up the difference and still leave us with some prize money for the future.

Discuss...

Hmmm, ok, it looks like there is zero interest in my Idris-P. This gives me guilt free melting rights on it, great. I'll leave the topic unlocked incase there is any late ideas. If I still have it then the offer is open, if I don't, the offer is void.

Was a long weekend for my Captain. I think the Idris would make a fine Org Ship. I feel we may be able to raise the funds through another fundraiser of some sort. I can also backfill some cash from the show... if needed since the org did coe from the shows thread. I hope others see this in the future.

Is this something the general membership should vote on?

I think something this big and expensive probably ought to be put before the general membership.

I agree that the whole Org should vote on it.

Maybe we should do a poll and see opinions and offer a chance at a prize to make it fun.

The only trouble is that I have to use concierge to melt the stuff so there is a delay.

Personally, I don't think the organisation necessarily needs a capital ship that desperately and it would drain the org coffers quite a lot.
But I'm happy to go with the group if others want to go ahead with it.

With the new pledges the rules have changed!

So I'm tabling this until the new year.

I'll post again. The new whale pledges are insane!
