Crews

Postby Stabby_McPunch » Sat Apr 25, 2015 9:35 pm

Since there are now many different ships available for our transporting needs, I figured that it would be good to figure out who plans on having a multicrew ship out there, and how many players (if any) you are looking to run it. I know some of us only have a few smaller ships and would like a cut of some profits serving on some of those bigger rigs out there.

Also, should we standardize crew rates? A union of sorts within our org?

As the captain of a Hull C, I know that having the full crew of 3 (it is 3, right?) would be nice. I am unsure of how to break down the pay rate. I was thinking something along the lines of 50/25/25 ... does that seem fair? Or stingy?

Bit early to tell I think. I mean depending on the run those extra 2 crew could be doing nothing at all.

Thats just the crew of the ship , you'll want some escorts aswell they wont work for free then theres fuell cost, docking fee's, repair fee, cargo insurance. to name a few.

with the bigger hulls its defnetly going be ORG oriented and focussed for the good of the ORG.

Probably a good idea to see what the average crew rates for NPCs are before making that kind of decision. It's nice to be able to pay a little above the standard rate for friends and org mates, but you also don't want to start taking a loss yourself because you are paying way over the odds. :)

I had this really long thought out drill down on how to pay crew after setting aside ship maintenance and repair, and the captains share but then I hit the wrong key on this 910 and lost it all.

I'm not nearly awake, nor not hung over enough for this apparently.

Some solid ideas all around. Just got excited, I suppose, but it seems like waiting to see what other rates and maintenance fees will run.

Once we know the work involved per 'job' we will have a better idea of things.

Examples:
The ship owner gets a nice cut of course, especially if they are also paying fuel, maintenance and repairs out of their share.
Pilot should get a good share or else you run the risk of getting a crappy pilot and everything goes to poo.
Gunners, if there is no action then is there another job they are doing? How much attention do they need to have to be good?
Escorts, they got their own ship or your ships etc? Who pays repairs?
Other, flat rate or pay based on actions?

It makes your head spin when you really think about the management of a larger op. Whew.

This is gonna be so much fun!

This is sort of what I was trying to convey earlier.

Ship Stores and Ship Maintenance - 40% off the top
Owner - 30%
Crew - Split the remainder.

Although with not needing "Stores" meaning food, water, etc you could reduce this number to 25%.

Ship Maintenance and Repair - 25%
Owner - 30%
Crew - Even Split with the option of bonuses for excellent performance.

I'd like to see a brush war between neighboring star systems where we can get a letter of Marque to attack and capture ships flying the flag of that system. The UEE might take a dim view of this over all but I have to think that the UEE Navy is stretched pretty thin and that this sort of thing will happen.

This would probably be hardest on merchants although militia targets would probably be worth more to the Marque holder. That's where bonuses could become quite lucrative for those who want to be able crewmen/women in whatever role is necessary.

Also, is anybody still favoring a Freelancer Max or Connie Taurus to a Hull? If so, I am interested in hearing you out.

The hulls don't devalue the other ships at all. Pressurized hulls are much safer for your cargo then the open to space system.

My guess is a single shot is all that is needed to destroy an entire cargo pod.

Plus those large ships can't easily make landfall or fit in the smaller jP's etc.

Plus those smaller ships are so much faster.

So you trade off quality for quantity with the Hull's. And I LOVE that about them. So sweet that we have so many options. I plan on sitting, for hours on end, in my 890J's lounge watching a station or orbit do its thing. Should be so pretty. And if CIG does those verse cameras... Well, I plan on getting some of them large picture frame twitch compatible displays to have in my living room. That would be so amazing. Guests " What video is that of?" Me, " Video? No no, that is a live feed from Terra's main port. See that ship there? That is my friend Batgirl's ship. Oh look Eris is trying to dock to her... oh dear, that's gonna scratch the paint..." :D
